GoogleTV Beta

Looks like the real thing to me but it could be an elaborate hoax. <sarcasm>This solidifies it, Google is now (or will be shortly) the gatekeeper for all media.</sarcasm>

    Hey Ram,

I think that is accurate, the internet can’t support the type of television that we are used to from TV. This is not to say that long tail, user generated or other types of television like content shouldn’t be distributed over the internet. I personally don’t think that type of programming should take the form of what we get from television (mostly scheduled simulated live programming). Real, live events that attract millions of viewers, such as the Superbowl will continue to keep their rightful place on the tube for a long time to come.

I also think that Google is really just interested in selling TV ad inventory. That is what they are trying to do in the radio space as well.

Last, I don’t think that any of this means that they aren’t looking at how to distribute regular television via the internet.
