Individual lives and opinions are<br \/>\ninteresting, important and worth sharing.<br \/>\n Media is not just something done to us by big media and<br \/>\nthe entertainment companies. People are hungry for authentic voices and<br \/>\nthe immediacy and intimacy of personal media. We want to encourage the<br \/>\npublic to take up the tools of personal publishing.<\/p>\n<p> We support open media, open standards and interoperability.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s not about walled gardens. The Web is about openness, connectedness<br \/>\nand participation.<br \/>\n We support open source. In addition, we support any project or<br \/>\ncompany that supports the Commons, community and the public interest.<\/p>\n<p> Quality matters. We support efforts that encourage and teach<br \/>\npeople how to create high-value grassroots media that offers meaning<br \/>\nand context.<\/p>\n<p> The public benefits from long-term archives that preserve grassroots media for future generations.<\/p>\n<p> We support remix culture. We believe in the idea of giving<br \/>\npeople access to video, audio, music and images for them to mash up and<br \/>\nremix in a way that&#8217;s easy, convenient and legal.<br \/>\n We believe in fair use and sensible copyright laws. Creative<br \/>\nCommons and the GNU Public License enrich the culture while preserving<br \/>\ncreators&#8217; rights.<br \/>\n We support the right of long-tail artists, like all artists,<br \/>\nto profit from their creations.
